About Us

Built on purpose.
Driven by structure.

We walk with small businesses and nonprofits whose purpose has outgrown their capacity — helping them build the structure to hold what they’re carrying.

Our Story

When purpose outgrows capacity,
something has to give.

A purpose ceiling is the invisible limit leaders hit when their mission, calling, or ambitions have grown faster than their capacity, systems, and support. It shows up as constant firefighting, unclear priorities, and decisions that keep getting delayed — not because you don’t care, but because your current structure can’t hold what you’re carrying.

We help leaders break through that ceiling. Not with another binder on a shelf — but with the structure, strategy, and support that can actually hold what you’re carrying.

If your purpose feels bigger than what your current structure can hold, you’re in the right place.

Why This Exists

Born from the belief that purpose deserves structure.

Octavia “Tav” Treadway built Something Great HQ from a deeply personal place — a conviction that purpose-driven leaders deserve more than advice, they deserve a partner who stays in the room until the work is done.

Too many talented leaders were hitting invisible ceilings — not because they lacked passion or capability, but because no one had helped them build the structure their purpose needed to grow. That’s why this exists.

You’re Carrying Something Great was built to be the walk-with partner that stays through implementation — not just planning — and is honest about trade-offs, real calendars, and what will actually fit.

What We Do

How we work — and what you get

We develop leaders and organizations through strategy, training, and
execution support that bridges vision and operations. We are here to
change the way that small businesses grow.

1

First Conversation

You share what you’re carrying and where you feel the ceiling. We listen — no pitch, no pressure. Together we assess fit and timing honestly.

2

Clarity & Direction

We look honestly at your model, capacity, and options. You leave with decisions made and a clear 90–180 day direction — not a 5-year fantasy.

3

Build & Walk With

We put simple systems in place and stay with you as you implement. You’re not carrying it alone. Plans turn into lived reality.

I

Clarity

Seeing where your purpose and capacity are misaligned — and what that’s costing you.

II

Decisions

Choosing what you will (and won’t) do in the next 90–180 days.

III

Systems

Putting simple, lived processes and roles in place to support that direction.

IV

Support

Walking with you as a thought partner so you’re not carrying it alone.

Clarity about your next moves — we help you see the real options and choose.

Simple, lived systems — core processes and rhythms matching your actual capacity.

A realistic 90–180 day plan — not a 5-year fantasy, a horizon you can act on now.

A thought partner, not just a plan — someone in the room as you make the hard calls.

The Purpose Ceiling

What it looks like when
purpose hits the ceiling.

This is the invisible structural limit — not a passion problem, not an effort problem. Our four pillars are what break through it.

Who We Serve

Leaders whose purpose has outgrown their capacity

Our work is for people who can feel the purpose ceiling — whether they’re running a neighborhood business, leading a community nonprofit, or supporting a whole ecosystem.

Small Business Owners

Local retail & service businesses at a crossroads.

You care deeply about your customers and your neighborhood. On paper, you might look “fine,” but:

  • — You're exhausted from being the one who holds every decision
  • — You're unsure whether to stay, grow, pivot, or walk away
  • — Your systems and margins haven't kept up with what you're building
"My purpose for this business is bigger than what my current time, systems, and money can hold."

Nonprofit & Community Leaders

Mission-driven orgs whose capacity hasn't kept pace.

You care deeply about your customers and your neighborhood. On paper, you might look “fine,” but:

  • — Strategic work keeps getting pushed off the calendar by urgent fires
  • — Staff and board are asking for clarity you don't feel you have
  • — Past "strategic plans" haven't changed the day-to-day reality
"Our mission is bigger than the staff, systems, and funding rhythm we have right now."

We’re usually a good fit if —

If your purpose feels bigger than what your current structure can hold, you’re in the right place.

  • ✓ You can feel "we can't keep doing it like this," even if you can't fully explain why
  • ✓ You're willing to make real decisions and small structural changes, not just collect ideas
  • ✓ You value both your purpose and the people carrying it — you don't want growth that breaks them

Our Journey

From first steps to a growing movement.

Our journey from first coaching client to a fully formed ecosystem — every step carried something great.

2021

Founded

It started with one coaching client. A simple beginning, but a clear signal that this work mattered and was meant to grow into something more.

2022

First Program Launched

The work got clearer.
Early tools, language, and frameworks began to take shape as we supported more leaders and started seeing the patterns in what they were carrying.

2023

Program Expansion

Boss Up launched, and we started building more structure around how we support leaders.
This is where the work shifted from individual support to something more intentional and repeatable.

2024

Ecosystem Growth

The work expanded through new partnerships, cohorts, and a stronger community around it. What started one-to-one began to connect across organizations, programs, and people doing related work.

2025 – Present

Platform Launch

Something Great kept growing into a fuller platform.
With the Purpose Project and Strength & Strategy Lab, the work continues to evolve into something that can support not just individuals, but entire ecosystems.

FAQ

Questions we hear most often.

Honest answers to the things leaders want to know before they reach out.

We solve the problem of purpose outgrowing capacity — when your mission or business ambitions have grown faster than the systems, decisions, and support available to hold them.

We are walk-with, not drop-a-binder-and-disappear. We listen first and use your language. We design around your actual bandwidth and constraints — not ideal conditions. We stay long enough to see plans turn into lived reality.

You leave not with another binder on a shelf, but with decisions made, roles clarified, and a plan your team can actually live. A realistic 90-day direction — not a 5-year fantasy.

Enough to do real work — not so much that it breaks your calendar. We design around your actual bandwidth from the start and are honest about what participation is required before you commit.

Small–mid local retail and service business owners at a crossroads, and nonprofit/community organization leaders whose mission has outpaced their structure. If you can feel “we can’t keep doing it like this” — you’re likely the right fit

Be Great (90-day sprint or strategic planning), Boss Up (leadership development), Strength & Strategy Lab (ecosystem partner cohorts), and Teen ESSTM (youth leadership). Each addresses a different expression of the purpose ceiling.

If you feel “we can’t keep doing it like this,” you’re willing to make real decisions, and you value both your purpose and the people carrying it — you’re likely a fit. The first free conversation will confirm it.

Schedule a free 30-minute conversation. You share what you’re carrying, we listen, and together we figure out whether there’s a fit and what the next step might be. No pitch, no pressure.
